The Alabama Power Service Organization – Plant Barry Chapter will host the Trunk or Treat Car Show on Saturday, October 27, 2012, from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm at the Battleship Park.  Proceeds from the event will benefit the children at St. Mary’s Home.

APSO Barry Chapter, a nonprofit voluntary organization made up of employees and family members, provides members a chance to give of their time, energy and talents to the local communities where they live and work.

The event is open to all cars, trucks and motorcycles with the cruise-in time starting at 8:00am.  Pre-registration for the event is $20.00; entries on the day of the event will be $30.00.  Categories will include Top 25, People’s Choice and Best of Show. Judging will start at 10:00 am, and APSO will announce winners at 2:00pm.

In addition to the vehicles, the event will also feature a silent auction, music, food, and children’s activities.  APSO encourages vehicle participants to bring treats for children and to dress in their finest Halloween garb.  Children attending the event with their families also are encouraged to don their Halloween costumes.

The event is open to the public.  Families are encouraged to bring their children to Trunk or Treat.  There will be fees for parking and for food and drinks.  The children’s activities will be free.

Founded in 1838, St. Mary’s Home serves as the oldest residential treatment facility for abused, abandoned and neglected children in Alabama.
