Lymphedema is prolonged swelling that builds up in the arms, legs, or any other part of the body. That swelling can have an affect on the immune system and waste removal from the tissues. There is no cure for the disease but it can be managed.

There are some signs you can look for that could mean you might have the medical condition:

  • Feelings of fullness in the limbs
  • Clothes may feel tight, or shoes might not fit well
  • Limbs feel heavy
  • You may experience decreased movement in the limbs
  • Scratches and infections in the limbs take longer to heal

If you are experiencing any of the above signs and symptoms, you should make an appointment with your physician to get a diagnosis. You can then be referred to a therapist for treatment.
