You may be experiencing abnormal or extreme uterine bleeding if you're having periods lasting longer than the normal two to seven days with heavy bleeding. Abnormal vaginal bleeding can be caused by a number of things including hormones, fibroids, uterine cancer, and bacterial infections. Your doctor can perform tests to find out what is causing your excessive bleeding.
