According to the American Academy of Dermatology, Psoriasis is a medical condition that occurs when skin cells grow too quickly. Faulty signals in the immune system cause new skin cells to form in days rather than weeks. The body does not shed these excess skin cells, so the cells pile up on the surface of the skin and lesions form.

There are five types of psoriasis: Plaque, guttate, pustular, inverse, and erythrodermic. Psoriasis lesions vary in appearance depending on type. People worldwide can develop psoriasis, but it is not contagious. Psoriasis is a life-long condition so if you're diagnosed with the condition, it's important to learn how to manage it. You can talk with a certified dermatologist about treatment options, and how to keep a healthy lifestyle to live life to the fullest.

You can learn more about psoriasis when you watch this video.
