Just in time to kick-off the New Year, PEOPLE magazine will unveil its special double-issue, “Half Their Size.”  This popular issue will offer readers amazing stories of real-life weight loss without surgery, fad diets or miracle pills.  The magazine will be available on newsstands beginning Friday, January 4th for two weeks.

In addition to stories of real-life weight loss, PEOPLE’s special issue will feature the specific diets and workout regimens used by those profiled to help readers kick start their own body transformations.  The “Half Their Size” issue will talk to various celebrity sidekicks.  Find out how Bethanny Frankel’s blogger, Kathy Griffin’s assistant and the Jonas Brothers’ guitarist all lost weight.  PEOPLE breaks it down and talks with both the celebrity and the sidekick!

The special issue also features family members who have helped each other lose weight and keep it off!  PEOPLE talks to mother/daughter, husband/wife and brother/sister duos who share their inspiring stories.

Cherish got the inside scoop on “Half their Size” from ‘People’ Senior Editor Michelle Tan. Tan was promoted to senior editor of PEOPLE in March 2011 after serving various editorial roles for eight years.  She joined the magazine in 2002 as an editorial intern just two days after graduating from Northwestern University with both a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Journalism, and was named editorial assistant the following year.  Ms. Tan rose quickly through the ranks to be named staff editor of PEOPLE’s Body section covering stories related to food, diets, weight loss, plastic surgery, and body image issues.  Michelle Tan has regularly appeared as a PEOPLE spokesperson on television shows including The Early Show, Today, Good Morning America, Entertainment Tonight, The Insider, and E! News.  Ms. Tan is a native of Syracuse, New York, and currently lives in New York City.

The “Half Their Size” double-issue is available on newsstands beginning Friday, January 4th for two weeks only.
