About the Restaurant:
Moe's serves up an all things Southern Soul Food Revival. Moe's Original Bar B Que features award-winning BAMA-style hand pulled pork, ribs, turkey, chicken and wings smoked over hardwood served with two unique sauces plus eight to ten traditional Southern sides and tasty desserts made fresh daily from recipes passed down for generations.

Moe's Original BBQ was founded by three Bama boys: Mike Fernandez from Tuscaloosa, Ben Gilbert from Athens, and Jeff Kennedy from Huntsville. After meeting at the University of Alabama, the founders instantly became friends and had a mutual interest in all things Southern: BBQ, blues, college football, and whisky. While in Tuscaloosa , they learned to fire roast meats from local legend, Moses Day. When Moses fired up his backyard barrel pit, everyone in T-Town knew where to go. He and his partners were lucky to learn from Moses and his distinct style makes up Moe's original flavor of BBQ.

In 2001, the founders reconnected in Vail, CO while all working at different restaurants. They wanted to start their own concept and created a roadside BBQ stand in Vail, CO. They sold out 100 consecutive days and knew they had something special.

Ten years later with 18 locations in AL, CO, GA and NC, Moe's Original Bar B Que is a successful and growing business selling franchises.

About the Chef:
Owner Mark White is a graduate of Johnson and Wales Culinary School.  He became a Moe's owner in 2006.

Moe's founders had wanted to open a restaurant along the beach and they got their chance after Hurricanes Ivan and Katrina destroyed parts of lower Alabama.  The owner of Joe Buck's BBQ decided to sell his little beach shack in Orange Beach, AL. Moe's founders jumped on the chance.

The Bama boys partnered up with Mark “Pinto” White to test the BBQ waters of Alabama. The little beach shack now called Moe's gazes out into the Gulf of Mexico, and has a down home country kitchen. There is seating for 40 inside with room for an additional 20 outside on the deck.  The meat is smoked on homemade barrel pits, which are rolled into the attached smokehouse.

Moe's immediately became a big hit in Orange Beach, so in the Winter of 2009, Pinto partnered up with Brent Boyd to open up Moe’s Original Bar-B-Que & Blues in Daphne, AL. Situated just steps from Mobile Bay and shaded by century-old oak trees and Spanish moss, this location is quickly becoming a BBQ Mecca on the Eastern shore. Add in delicious Alabama BBQ and tasty sides served up seven days a week plus live blues playing every weekend and this joint screams BBQ and Blues.

With two successful restaurants going strong, White and Boyd opened up an outpost space at downtown Fairhope, AL's Windmill Market. Folks in Fairhope can enjoy Moe's great BBQ on Thursdays and Fridays for lunch and all day on Saturdays and Sundays.

Moe's has been voted BEST in Barbecue, American Food, Dessert, Family-Friendly Dining, Fast Food, Group Dining, Lunch Spot & Outdoor Dining.
