Cheese Straw Challenge

INGREDIENTS:
16oz. Cheddar Cheese
20 oz. Butter
3 1/2 C Flour
1 1/2 tsp. Baking Powder
1 1/2 tsp. Seasoned Salt
1 1/2 tsp. Cayenne Pepper

STEPS:
Grate Cheese and mix with the creamed butter. 
Sift flour, baking powder, seasoned salt and cayenne pepper and mix with the butter and cheese.
Squeeze the star disk of a cookie press and bake at 350 degrees for 12-15 minutes.

About the Event:
It's all about the Cheese - This fun-filled afternoon will celebrate one of Mobile’s most beloved food items, the cheese straw. 

Admission is $10 per person and includes samplings, voting slips, a wine bar, light refreshments, and a tour of the Oakleigh Historic Home.  Tickets may be purchased at The Gift Shop at Oakleigh, on-line at www.historicmobile.org ., or by mail.  Please mail checks made to: HMPS, 300 Oakleigh Place, Mobile, Alabama, 36604.   

Cooking Traditions: It’s All About The Cheese – Cheese Straw Challenge is hosted by the Historic Mobile Preservation Society and sponsored by Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse.  All proceeds benefit The Cook’s House Restoration Project.  The Cook’s House is located on the Oakleigh Historic Complex.
