Grilling pizza is a new food trend in the Southeast, and Papa Murphy's in Foley shows you how it's done.

Ingredients:
A fresh pizza
Heat barrier
Gas, charcoal or wood pellet grill

Steps:
Gas Grill – general grilling instructions:
Pre-heat your grill
Remove plastic wrap.
Put pizza and paper tray on aluminum grilling tray or other heat-shielding surface. Place in the center of the grill surface and close lid.
Bake for approximately 15-20 minutes (other grills require longer grilling time).
Check pizza frequently by lifting crust with a spatula. Turn pizza 1/4 turn every 5 minutes… turn it, don’t burn it!

About the Restaurant:
Papa Murphy’s is the largest take 'n' bake pizza company in the world – and is now the fifth-largest pizza company in the United States. Papa Murphy’s is fresh pizza made right before your eyes (with fresh dough made daily in the store). Fresh pizza made exactly how you want it. Fresh pizza that you bake at home so it's always hot out of your oven (or off the grill!).

They prepare all of their vegetables and shred all of their premium cheeses fresh each morning. You take the pizza from the store and grill it (or bake it) at home. They also offer a variety of crusts. Their thin deLite crust is the most popular for the grill.

About the Guests:
Ann and Harvey Callegan own the Papa Murphy’s in Foley, Alabama. She and her husband share a passion for food but it seemed like every time they went out to eat, they had a bad experience. So, they thought they would open a restaurant where people could bring their dining experience to their own home…Papa Murphy’s was the perfect fit.

They both took a big risk with this new venture….Before PM, Ann owned and operated a family advertising business for 44 years (Hurrelbrink Advertising).  Her husband spent 31 years of his life working at Marathon Oil Refinery. They decided they wanted to do something together. So, they both left their steady jobs, put their home on the market in the worst housing market ever (which sold in two weeks!) and opened 3 months after the oil spill in the Gulf.  They never gave up on their dream of owning this business together and they are still up and running successfully!

More Grilling Tips:
Warning: Paper tray is flammable and must be protected from direct exposure to heat source. To prevent scorching or igniting the paper tray, place it on a heat-shielding surface such as an aluminum tray, foil or pizza stone. Grilling without aluminum grilling tray or other heat-shielding surface is strictly prohibited. Pre-heat pizza stone for 10-15 minutes for best results.

Grilling is not recommended for stuffed pizzas. Papa Murphy’s suggests to use their thin crust pizzas (the deLites). A tip to help achieve a perfectly crisp crust is to rotate the pizza one-quarter, every five minutes on the grill.

Note: Check out grilling instructions for three different types of grills: gas, charcoal and wood pellet at www.papamurphys.com/pdf/grillInstructions.pdf.
