SEAFOOD, SCIENCE & CELEBRITY 2012 - MADE IN ALABAMA
Saturday, October 13
6pm - 10pm
Dauphin Island Sea Lab and Estuarium
About the Event:
Seafood, Science & Celebrity is a celebration of Alabama seafood, Alabama innovation and Alabama music. It is being hosted by Food Network Star, Martie Duncan and American Idol Winner, Taylor Hicks.
The Martie Party is coming to Dauphin Island for this year’s Seafood, Science and Celebrity. Alton Brown’s protégée and Food Network Star’s finalist Martie Duncan from Birmingham is hosting the event this year in her own unique style. Martie has invited a few friends from around the state to help her with the event including several well-known chefs (tba) and American Idol Taylor Hicks.
For the Seafood Part of the Event, Martie has enlisted some of Alabama's top chefs to create signature dishes featuring Alabama seafood paired with craft beer from Back Forty Beer Company, Gadsden, Alabama.
For the Science part of the Event, Auburn Scientist, Assistant Professor Doctor William (Bill) C. Walton will showcase his innovation in oyster farming. His experimental farm in Grand Bay is producing top-quality gourmet oysters of a consistent size which will eventually be featured in raw bars and restaurants across the country. This new industry will create local jobs and support the local economy.
The Celebrity part of the event will showcase a performance by Alabama’s American Idol Taylor Hicks. He will be flying in from Las Vegas for the night; guests can kick off their shoes and dance to Taylor and his band in this intimate setting on the Estuarium deck overlooking the Gulf.
To accommodate folks in Baldwin County, the Ferry will make a chartered 10 pm run to Fort Morgan. Guests will be able to walk on to the ferry for a starlight cruise at the end of the evening.
Ticket price is $100 with just 250 tickets available for this exclusive and intimate event. Tickets can be purchased online at DauphinIslandTourism.com or by clicking on this link http://tickets.frontgatetickets.com/choose.php?a=1&lid=73231&eid=82711
