MOBILE, Ala. - The U.S. Air Force Band and Honor Guard will be representing the Air Force in the 2013 Inaugural parade on Monday, January 21. What an honor!

MSgt. Tara Islas is originally from Mobile, and will be performing in the 57th Inaugural Parade with the Air Force Band.  She talked to Studio 10 via Skype, and says her experience in the Air Force has been very exciting. She joined the Air Force in 1997 and was first stationed in San Antonio, Texas for two years before being stationed in Washington DC in 1999.

MSgt. Islas says the Air Force Band is a 187 member squad comprised of six separate units. She is in the ceremonial unit that plays for everything ceremonial, with the bulk of their mission playing funerals at Arlington National Cemetery.

MSgt. Islas plays French Horn, and will be on the second row from the end during the march at the Inaugural Parade. This is her 4th Inaugural Parade.

MSgt. Islas says she was trained as a musician in college and it feels fantastic to do what she loves, playing music and serving her country.
