Happy 2012! It's a new year, a blank slate, a chance to start over or do some things better.
Since we're just getting started with 2012, New Year's resolutions are in full swing!
We talked with some of you about what you have planned, some common themes for this year: spending more quality time with family, doing better in school, becoming closer to God, being a better person, being a better Mom, and helping others in need.
One of the younger resolution-makers, 4-year-old Eliana, told us she wants to eat more candy!
These are all lots of great ideas! A lot of us have big plans for the new year.
The question is, did you write them down? Experts say that's one of the first steps in sticking to that New Year's Resolution.
We should also be specific and create a plan. Meaning, don't just say you want to make more friends - be specific about how you're going to do that and come up with ways to accomplish it.
We should also get going with that plan right away. If we don't, we run the risk of losing momentum and we may lose our motivation. Continue to review the plan.
Don't lose sight of that goal and don't be afraid to ask for help. It can be hard to keep going to the gym, for example. So, enlist a friend to partner up with you. Hold yourself accountable. If you stray, it's okay, but no excuses.
Experts say it's a good idea to set a deadline so there's an end in sight. Open-ended commitments are tough to keep, right?
We're all doing the best we can! So try not to get frustrated if things don't go exactly as planned!
