Easter is just around the corner! In this Thrifty Living segment, Aubrey Nix from easternshoremom.com joined us with some fantastic frugal Easter ideas.
Make Your Own Dye
Using 1 tablespoon of food coloring OR 1/2 packet of Kool-Aid, mix with 2 tablespoons of white vinegar and dye your eggs!
Inexpensive DIY Easter Baskets
*Spray paint an older basket
If you have one around the house or find one at a thrift store, spray paint it a pastel color instead of spending more on a custom basket.
*Baskets that keep on giving
Instead of using a basket that they don't need, try getting creative. If you child is in need of a new lunch box, buy one and fill it as the Easter Basket. Or, with Summer coming up, use a plastic sand pail that your child can use at the beach as the Easter basket.
Cheap & Homemade Easter Basket Fillers
*Rice Krispie Treats or Easter Shaped Cookies- These are always fun to make, and with a little food coloring can be made into pastel colors too! Super cute and fun for the baskets.
*Coupons for Kids- This a great, FREE idea as well. Make coupons for the kids like "Stay up 30 minutes past bedtime" or "FREE pass to get out of chores for the day".
Here is another cute one, it's a recipe for homemade playdough from Pinterest! http://momadvice.com/blog/
