How to become a blogger

In Tuesday’s Dollars and Sense, Derica Williams talks about ways to make some extra cash. Lots of stay at home moms and dads can supplement their income by becoming a blogger.  Aubrey Nix, heads up EasternShoreMom.com gave some insight to beginning your own website and succeeding at it.

Many people start to look for what blog genre does the best, making the most money, or having the most followers.  The fact is, you won't be able to write unique, personal, and interesting posts on the blog if you are not knowledgeable and passionate about the topic you are blogging about!

Start by making a list of hobbies you enjoy, things you are learning, or topics you are interested in.  Within that list is what YOUR blog will be about!  Whether it is scrap booking, home decor, fashion, family life, cooking, couponing, your blog will be successful & interesting because it will be what YOU are passionate about.

Now that you have the subject you are going to blog about, now where do you start?  There are many different places to start a blog, however there are two favorites which happen to be the most popular blogging platforms out there.

They are both free to get started.  One is called Blogger which is powered by Google and extremely beginner friendly. Wordpress is the second free site, however it may be a little complicated to navigate if you have never managed a website before.

So we have a subject & a place to start writing, but how do you monetize your blog meaning "make money"? Don't go into blogging thinking it's a get-rich-quick scheme, it is everything BUT that. Blogging takes a lot of time, effort, and passion behind the writing to make it successful. It took many bloggers years before they started seeing any sort of profit from their hard work.

Always when you make money from you blog put a disclaimer below each post, research this online to get all the details.  A great networks for monetizing your blog, is Google Adsense.
