Looking to jazz up an old space but don’t have the extra cash to swing it? Why not get thrifty? The Salvation Army Thrift Stores are packed with goods that with a little love can really transform any room.
Katie Emer with the Salvation Army took on the challenge with “Operation Thrifty Office.” Emer transformed her office with items purchased at the Salvation Army. All it took was a little vision, creativity and some fresh ideas from Pinterest.
“I got on Pinterest and really started seeing where people were posting their Salvation Army transformations and I was like ‘hey if they can do it, so can we,” said Emer.
Emer chose a blue and white color scheme and worked it in with new chair covers, a painted lamp and made-over picture frames.
“There is so much to offer at the Salvation Army store from clothes to household items to furniture. You never know what you are going to find,” said Emer.
There are two locations of the Salvation Army thrift stores in Coastal Alabama, each [packed with things ready for you.
“We have some items that are good to go there and some items that just need a little creative goggles. They need a little TLC and a little makeover and they can have a brand new life,” said Emer.
Giving something a brand new life doesn’t just apply when the Salvation Army is refurbishing furniture, its what they operate by.
“We take people who are at their lowest point in their lives who others have discarded or thrown out and we take them and we give them a new life and put them on a successful path,” said Emer.
