On Dollars and Sense Derica Williams has talked about couponing and rewards cards, but Monday Derica she tells you about just down right simple ways to save. Experts at CNN Money came up with a few shopping tips Derica wanted to share.
First -- try frozen meat, poultry and seafood. It can often be 25-to-40% cheaper than fresh.
Also -- check out drugstores for staples like milk. And look in their weekly circular for deals and compare prices to the grocery store or discount chains. Drugstores use these deals to lure you in, hoping you'll buy other items.
There are also a couple simple things you can do to get a better deal on wine.
First -- check out offerings from Spain and Greece. Spanish wines have become very popular in the last few years... and experts say some are as delicious as French wines, but about 25% cheaper. Wines from Greece are also a good option and most are made with organic grapes.
Also, check into bulk retailers like Costco. They can offer unbeatable discounts sometimes. Keep these tips in mind when shopping this summer; they’ll come in handy especially if you also plan to entertain.
