Stay and Train Program for your Dog

The Stay and Train program at Smeraglia's Puppy University is for people who want to have a trained dog, but don't have time to go through the frustrating training process. If you choose Stay and Train, one of the trainers at Puppy U will keep your dog in their home and work with him/her as if it were theirs. The trainer will then train, socialize, and maintain your dog to the level and specifics you have requested.

There are a variety of programs offered at Puppy U to meet most anyone's needs. Those programs range from basic manners and obedience, to Police K-9 or service training.

The Doggie Boarding School program is a stay and train program for those who want a trained dog without having the time-consuming, often messy, noisy, and frustrating process training your dog can be. It is ideal for people dealing with immediate issues which are best handled away from the owner's home.

If you put your dog in the Doggie Boarding School program, a trainer will keep your dog in their home and work with your dog as if it were their dog. The trainer will train, socialize, and maintain your dog to the level and specifics you have requested. There are even programs which are exclusive to Puppy U breeder affiliates.

There are different programs that can be custom tailored to meet your family's individual needs for training and timing. The length of your dog's stay depends on your personal needs as a dog owner.

All dogs must be vet checked, free of parasites, and up to date on vaccinations before arriving at Boarding School. A week before your dog is to arrive at school to begin the training process, you will receive a detailed questionnaire requesting important information needed by the trainers to tailor the training process to your family’s needs.

Boarding School typically starts on Thursdays and ends on Thursdays. This allows for Friday shipping or pick ups and a full weekend for you and your puppy to transition. Days can be adjusted by request. Please know that if there are any problems or questions with your dog while at school, you will be contacted immediately. You can expect to receive an update and new picture each Friday that your dog is at school.

All programs include regular weekly updates and snap shot pictures, training supplies, and ongoing Vet care to insure that your dog remains up to date on vaccinations and dewormings while attending Puppy University. You'll also have a telephone, video conference or in person consultation with your Doggie Boarding School trainer supervisor prior to your dog going home as well as telephone or e-mail support after the dog arrives home.

Your dog will go home with instructions and a detailed schedule so that you can continue the training process when you get home. Your training kit will include a collar, leash, crate, toy, chew toy, a sample of preferred treats, full medical record, among other items to get started right away.

All questions will be directed to the trainers and questions and concerns will be addressed in a timely fashion. Your dog will be well taken care of and given a lot of love and affection while in Doggie Boarding School. Each dog will be well socialized with children as well as other classmates in the program.

Trainers use scientifically proven, reward based training methods. The ultimate goal for everyone at Smeraglia's and for you is for there to be a perfect match with each dog and their new family.
