Teresa from Pensacola writes: "I just bought a leather sofa and it seems like one of the cushions is sagging where my husband sits. How do I know what to look for when I go to purchase a couch or any furniture with cushions to keep this from happening again?"

Tom says do your research before you make a furniture purchase. Look for furniture made of wood rather than particle board because the wood furniture will hold up longer. Also look for the way the spring are positioned underneath the sofa or seat. Tom says it's okay to ask a sales associate to turn a couch or chair over so you can see how it's made.

The second question comes from Phyllis, who asks, "Is a name brand really important, and will it really make a difference?"

Tom says the answer is yes! He says a reputable company will not put their name on a product they don't stand behind.

The third question comes from Carol who is from Milton. Carol says, "I bought a living room group for my new house and when it was delivered it swallowed my room. Is there any way to make this monster look smaller?"

Tom says unfortunately, shrinking the furniture isn't possible, and that's why you should know where you're going to place the furniture you're shopping for, and you should take precise measurements of the area before you start furniture shopping. He says it's also not a bad idea to take a tape measure with you to the furniture store so you can measure the furniture you're hoping to add to your home decor.
