Fall Fashion Essentials

Okay ladies, it's time to talk fashion with Michelle McCool, fashion director for Cosmopolitan! Since 2003, Michelle has played a big role when it comes to executing fashion, beauty, and celebrity cover shoots. She has directed photo shoots all over the world, and has also worked at Glamour and Allure.

Michelle says for starters, our wardrobes must include leather, color, prints, and winter whites this season. No more rule that you can't wear white after Labor Day! White is a color that everyone can pull off, so why ban it because the temperatures drop? Try winter white hats, jackets, dresses, suits, sweaters, and even shoes!

Michelle says texture is in this fall, so get ready to add leather to your wardrobe if you haven't already, and don't be afraid to buy faux leather pieces. Leather leggings are hot right now, so make sure you have at least one pair. You'll see faux leather detailing on shoulders, elbows, pockets and kneecaps. You can also incorporate leather accessories into your outfits.

Color trends for fall include dark green and burgundy, but don't stick those brightly colored pants, tops, and dresses in the back of your closets. Color is good! Jewel tones like greens, reds, and purples, demand attention! It's also okay to combine black and navy, something that has been frowned upon in the past.

Shine with bling! Sequins will have a strong presence this season, along with metallics. Be sure you have a cute pair of sequined shorts, and tops and dresses in golds, silvers, and bronzes.

Complete your outfit with a hot pair of shoes! The higher the better! Look for pumps with pointed toes and thin heels. Embellishments are also big. Look for spikes, bows, buckles, and other baubles that make a statement. But don't put your classic stilettos away because you can still rock those in solid colors and prints. Make sure you have some in a leopard print..
