MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) - Water Street in downtown Mobile lived up to its name on Wednesday. Drivers plowed through the flooded street as rain continued to pound the city.
Wind toppled small tress over on nearby streets and the first floor of a parking garage was filled with water.
Bob Byrd, a resident of Mobile, was wading through some of the water on the streets taking pictures.
“I’m taking in the scenery. I don't have to be at work, I don't have to be anywhere in particular and nobody is rushing me,” said Byrd. “Everything is closed down so it’s a fun thing to just walk around and look.”

Tree trucks parked along the curbside of some downtown streets and sandbags were placed along garages and businesses in hopes of keeping the wet weather out.
ALDOT and the Mobile Police Department said they will close the exit ramps from the interstate to Water Street.
Southbound Water Street will be closed at Congress Street. Northbound and southbound traffic can detour to Royal Street.
The barricades will be removed after the water subsides.
