JACKSON COUNTY, Miss. - Jackson County Mississippi has reported the effects that recent
storms had on the area. Road conditions are improving throughout
the county as Tropical Depression Ida moves out of the area. The
following was also reported:
- At 5am Tuesday morning more than 20 roads in the County were
partially closed because of high water and street flooding. All
major and secondary roads are now open to traffic. Drivers are
still advised to use caution on roadways today. Pay attention to
downed vegetation, fallen tree limbs, and pooling water along
roadsides.
- The County’s Emergency Management Department has no
reports of personal injuries or property damage due to Tropical
Storm Ida’s winds or rain. There are a small number of
trees, utility poles, and road signs down across the County. The
Emergency Operations Center (EOC) recorded several wind gusts of
40 mph overnight with a maximum gust of 47 mph. The EOC also
recorded more than 3 inches of rain from Ida.
- The Jackson County Small Craft Harbor in Ocean Springs will
reopen later today to marine traffic. The Harbor recorded a four
foot storm surge around 3:30am Tuesday morning. The flooding has
temporary knocked out power to 40 boats slips in the rear of the
harbor. County maintenance crews are working to restore utilities
as soon as possible.
- The County and the American Red Cross closed the temporary
shelter at 8am T morning. Seven citizens stayed at the shelter
Monday evening.
- Delta Sanitation will not run household garbage routes on
Tuesday, Nov. 10. Routes will resume on Wednesday, Nov. 11 and
will be running one day behind for the remainder of the week.
Routes will be caught up by Saturday.
