DAUPHIN ISLAND, Ala. (WALA) - Isaac has brought some problems to Dauphin Island. The storm flooded streets, closed roads and the town even lost power.
The causeway leading onto the island was closed on Monday.
Alabama Department of Transportation crews were hoping to clear it off Tuesday and reopen it, but the weather had other plans. Officials said the causeway should reopen sometime Wednesday.
Alabama Power crews we out in force on Tuesday fixing the downed power lines. The island lost power on Monday when a sail boat hit the lines. It was back up Tuesday by 5 p.m.
There is a lot of flooding throughout the city. The loading dock at the ferry station looks like it is floating in the water.
Most of the streets are passable, but there is a ton of debris. In front of Billy Goat Hole, there is a dock that has been thrown about in the road.
Most residents said this is pretty normal for a storm, and all together Isaac wasn’t too bad.
