BALDWIN COUNTY, Ala. -
LOCAL STATE OF EMERGENCY
The Baldwin County Commission in coordination with the
Baldwin County Emergency Management Agency (EMA) has declared a
local state of emergency effective immediately on Sunday, November
8, 2009.
The declaration of a local state of emergency allows county/city/state to declare an area be an emergency/disaster area for the purpose of exercising necessary emergency powers and expenditure of available resources, and requesting aid, assistance, and relief programs and funds available from the State in order to act in the best interest of the safety of the citizens within the area.
VOLUNTARY EVACUATIONS
The Baldwin County EMA in encouraging voluntary evacuations
for all coastal communities, low lying, flood-prone areas or
residents living in mobile homes. If residents have no
transportation and need assistance evacuating to the county shelter
contact Baldwin Rural Area Transportation System at (251) 972-6807
beginning at 7:00 a.m. on Monday, November 9, 2009.
SHELTERS
On behalf of the Baldwin County Commission, the Baldwin
County Emergency Management Agency (EMA) will be opening the
following shelter in response to the risk of severe weather and
flooding expected in Baldwin County associated with Tropical Storm
Ida

Any citizen evacuating to a shelter will need to bring their own
