Isaac floods areas in North Mobile Co.

EIGHT MILE, Ala. (WALA) - Hurricane Isaac poured several inches of rain on Chickasabogue Park in Eight Mile. The parking lot and playground were covered with water.

Head north on I-65 to Saraland and things were wet, but thankfully not worse for Bayou Sara.

Tom Bowdoin said serious rain showers can typically turn stretches of Bayou Sara Avenue into a stream.

Thankfully, this time that wasn't the case.

"Normally the yard is covered, and the steps would all be floating. We would have to use a boat on the street, but it is not like that now," said Bowdoin. 

J.R. Morrow spent the morning boating on Bayou Sara.

He said it's not the swollen Bayou or the flash flooding that concerns him. He said it is the hundreds of dead fish.

Morrow showed FOX10 News a picture of floating fish taken with his cell phone.

It shows dozens of fish floating on the surface.

“That is carp, some bass, and brim,” said Morrow.

He also said it was a result of the storm.

"The saltwater mixes with the fresh water. The storm pushes the saltwater in the river so high and it ends up with dead fish everywhere," said Morrow.

While Morrow checks on the wildlife, Hartense Young checks on her older sister who lives near Bayou Sara.

The senior citizens said she spent the night at her daughter's home.

"I just got back home and came to make sure she was okay," said Young.

Lelia Horn said she and her dog Bonnie did just fine.

"The storm didn't bother me. I didn't even hear it. When I get in my house and close the door, I don't hear anything," said Horn.

People living along Bayou Sara were happy there wasn't more to hear or see when it came to Isaac.
