BILOXI, Miss. (WALA) - Memories of a Hurricane Katrina seven years ago are still fresh for many Biloxi residents. So as Isaac moves towards land, they aren’t taking any chances.
"Boarding up! We ain't really worried about the wind or anything, just keep something from hitting the windows,” said one Biloxi Resident.
Some people braved the flood waters and even took in the high waves. Locals were doing what they could to work together and hunker down.
"I was moving boats up in the bayou and getting them tied off so they wouldn't get messed up, board up people's houses, help them move furniture and stuff, “ said Grey Slay.
Closer to the beach, homes were boarded up and ready for the wind and rain. Forecasters said the Mississippi Gulf Coast is expected to see the worst of Isaac Wednesday.
"The house was so badly damaged during Katrina that we wanted to make sure that it was all boarded up and safe for this time,” said Becky Green.
Fingers were crossed and hopes were high that Isaac would play nice with the coast.
“It's really… it was a really traumatic time for us (Katrina) so we are just hoping that it's nothing like that…of course it isn't going to be so we are grateful for that,” said Green.
