INDIANAPOLIS - Whether you’re venturing out to Park City, Utah, this year or attending Sundance vicariously through blog posts and updates from the Internet, there are lots of solutions right at your fingertips to get your Sundance fix.
Film buffs, celebrities, small-time filmmakers and industry big shots all flock to this seminal film festival every year. It’s a potpourri of undiscovered films as well as star-studded performances, and the biggest market for buyers.
2011’s Oscars nominations were loaded with movies that made big marks at Sundance, such as “Winter’s Bone,” “The Kids Are All Right,” and a slew of documentaries that were in Park City a year before.
Keep up with everything Sundance with these handy tips.
Get the app
If you have an iPhone or an iPad, you can download the official 2012 Sundance app from iTunes. This diverse app provides a real-time festival film guide, full-view calendars and provides push notifications with best bets for last-minute showings.
Added bonus: you can keep up with your friends with its social media integration with Facebook and Twitter.
Whether you are there or not, you’ll constantly be in touch with the festival.
Go online
Indiewire.com has a great overview of what’s up at Sundance, along with a hefty list of recommendations, along with curating a constantly updated festival guide.
I’d also recommend firstshowing.com for more movie reviews of films that will be premiering at this year’s Sundance.
Check out Sundance's YouTube channel. You can watch interviews with directors and actors, clips and even some premieres.
And of course, Sundance.com. Sundance’s team of bloggers and photographers will update the official site regularly with news about movies and events, plus slideshows with sound. The site is full-featured, with links to photos, videos and live streaming events.
Get Twitter
Twitter has become one the most accessible ways to be “in the know” for any major social event. If you’re not already on Twitter, it’s free to sign up.
