MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (CNN/WPDE) - A missing dog is back with its owner after several months. And if Bucky could talk, he'd have quite a story to tell.
The black Labrador couldn't bear the thought of being away from his owner even if it meant traveling 500 miles to find him.
In January, Mark Wessells left Bucky with his dad in Virginia because he couldn't have a dog at his home in Myrtle Beach.
But a short time later, Bucky disappeared.
Somehow he traveled nearly 500 miles to the Grand Strand. Two weeks ago, he was taken in by a family. That family brought him to the Grand Strand Animal Hospital where they discovered a microchip and called Wessells.
"I thought I was gonna cry but I didn't. He definitely recognized me instantly. He still remembers some of his old commands and everything. Yeah... it's almost like he never left," he said.
Wessells says he's never going to leave Bucky behind again.
