    (CNN/NASA) - Some intergalactic fireworks for your 4th of July enjoyment.

    These amazing images from the sun's surface show a solar flare so powerful it disrupted radio communications over Europe.

    It also sent electrically-charged particles shooting into space that just might sweep past Earth's magnetic field in time to spark some auroral fireworks.
