USS ENTERPRISE, At Sea (NNS) - The Norfolk-based USS James E. Williams (DDG 95) rescued 10 mariners from their burning boat in the Gulf of Oman on August 8.
The Iranian mariners received medical treatment aboard the guided-missile destroyer, as they awaited transport to aircraft carrier USS Enterprise (CVN 65).
James E. Williams is deployed as part of the Enterprise Carrier Strike Group to the U.S. 5th Fleet area of responsibility conducting maritime security operations and theater security cooperation efforts, according to the U.S. Navy.
