HOLLYWOOD, Fla. (CNN/WSVN) - A newlywed couple thought their marriage would be short-lived after a pole sliced through the windshield of their SUV.
The two, who were just married last week, were driving down a South Florida highway Tuesday morning when the car in front of them drove over some debris. That sent a six-foot metal rod airborne.
"It came right in. Half of it was sticking out and half of it was in. So it could have cut us in half," said Sandy Francis.
"When I got out of the car and looked at it, I cried. I cried," said Carlton Francis.
The couple was covered in glass but OK. Investigators aren't sure where the pole came from.
