SAN FRANCISCO (CNN/KTXL) - When it comes to doing the news, we in the business can tell you: It doesn't always go according to plan -- especially when a bird poops on your face during a live report.

That's exactly what happened to San Francisco news anchor Paul Robins, who had a very unscripted moment while reporting outside the World Series venue AT&T Park.

In the middle of talking about the Giants in the World Series in 1989 versus the Oakland A's, he gets a surprise.

"Hang on, hang on," he said. "You know, I have to tell you, one of my goals in life, Bethany, one of my goals in life is to make it on YouTube, and I think I just did. I'm on YouTube. Hello to my YouTube friends! How are you?"

He joked after the incident.

"What, am I supposed to go on from here? Hey, Darren, it's raining in San Francisco! It's raining bird crap, if I may say that," said Robins.

He did think on the bright side, however.

"Hopefully we'll get a little rain to wash it off."
