NFL makes good after Super Bowl ticket flub

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - The NFL is offering the hundreds of fans who ended up in the Cowboys Stadium basement two choices to make up for not getting seats at Super Bowl 45.

NFL officials announced the two choices fans will have on Tuesday. Commissioner Roger Goodell estimates about 400 people were affected by the issue that arose when temporary seating was no longer available in Texas.

Here are the options the NFL is offering, and ticket holders must pick only one:

  • One free ticket to next year's Super Bowl game plus a cash payment of $2,400 (three times the face value of the Super Bowl XLV game ticket held by the individual). The ticket to next year's Super Bowl game is transferable.
  • One free ticket to a future Super Bowl game of the fan's choice, including next year's if so desired, plus round-trip airfare and hotel accommodations provided by the NFL. This offer will be personalized in the ticketholder's name and is not transferable.

The NFL office is working with the Steelers, Packers and Cowboys to obtain contact information for people that did not receive seats in the stadium. Contact information for those people can be sent to SBXLV@nfl.com. A personal call from a senior NFL staff member will follow.

The NFL is investigating the seating issue and stadium entrance to determine where breakdowns occurred in Texas.

"We are ultimately responsible for the fan experience and we want it to be the best it can possibly be," Commissioner Goodell said in a news release.
