Regulators say only one snapper a day

Regulators say that the Gulf's red snapper population appears to be robust and growing, but the 2010 snapper limits will likely be the strictest ever, possibly one fish per day or a 30-day season.

September is here and dove season is now open in the north zone. We headed up to Marengo County for an action packed dove hunt. But, before the hunt, we decided to do a little bass fishing. The birds usually don’t start flying good until mid afternoon, for those early season hunts.

Fall fishing: Speckled trout

Fall fishing is just around the corner. On this particular episode of outdoors, we headed out off the causeway to target some speckled trout in the upper bay. Fishing starts turning on in September as we experience slightly cooler temperatures.

Pier fishing in Gulf Shores

There are plenty of places to fish in our area, even if you don’t have a boat. The best pier in our area is definitely the new Gulf State Park Pier located near Gulf Shores. It’s the longest pier on the Gulf of Mexico.

Pond fishing for bass

This time outdoors, we headed out to a local pond during the hot part of the day. The bigger bass really weren’t feeding. But, we did have fun catching a good number of smaller fish on soft plastics. We caught a good number of bass around a pound in size fishing the grassy shoreline.
