Authorities say Lam Luong murdered his four children by tossing them off the Dauphin Island Bridge January 7, 2008. He was arrested the next day and charged with five counts of capital murder.

 

On March 19, 2009, Luong was found guilty on all five capital murder charges. The next day a jury recommended death. On April 30, 2009 a judge upheld the jury's recommendation.

 

On February 15, 2013 an appeals court threw out the convicton and death sentence.
