MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) - A late night shooting has turned into a homicide investigation after 65-year-old Lai Robinson died from her injuries.
The shooting happened around 10 p.m. Tuesday, June 25 on Latimer Lane in Mobile.
When officials arrived on the scene, officers said they found Robinson suffering from a gunshot wound. She was taken to the hospital where she had been listed in critical condition. Robinson has since passed away.
Police said one suspect approached a window of the residence while another forced his way through the front door. They said the suspect at the window fired a handgun, hitting the woman in the right shoulder.
Officials said the suspects took money from the home and were last seen running from the scene.
Neighbors are angry and saddened by the violence that took the life of their friend whom they called "Ms. Lin Lin."
"She was the candy lady. She used to let people get stuff on credit. She'll let you pay her later and stuff like that," said Felicia Hall.
Leroy Edwards considers Robinson a friend and his kids bought candy from her often.
" They ask me yesterday did " Ms. Lin Lin die?" I said no. This morning I find out she died. It hurt," said Edwards.
As police continue search for Robinson's killer neighbors tell me they are on edge.
" I just bought a house in this neighborhood and I'm ready to go already," said Bethelyn Crawley
