CHATOM, Ala. (WALA) - A father's dream is to dance with his daughter at her wedding. Well, in this case, it was the high school prom.
Anthony Davidson danced with his daughter, Dedra, at her high school prom in Chatom on Saturday night April 6.
No big deal, right?
For Davidson, it was. That's because Davidson is a double amputee. He lost both of his lower legs after an accident at work and the medical complications that followed.
After being fitted with artificial legs and months of physical therapy in Mobile, Davidson danced the first dance at the Washington County High School Prom with his 18-year-old daughter.
Dedra Davidson is a senior at Washington County High School. Her dad said it was his daughter who encouraged him to walk with his new legs and to dance with her on her special night.
"I haven't got to see him walk in a long time," said Dedra. "It just means a lot to be able to dance with him."
"I can't say there's nowhere else I would rather be," Davidson laughed. "As long as I don't fall."
