ESCAMBIA, Ala. (WALA) - A single-vehicle crash Saturday morning claimed the life of 6-year-old Alexis Pugh and injured two others.
Lisa Hart, 27, of Brewton was driving a 1996 GMC Jimmy when she ran off the road, struck a telephone pole and overturned.
Hart and passenger Christopher Dean, 31, of Repton were transported to DW McMillan Hospital in Brewton for treatment of their injuries. Hart's daughter, Alexis, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The crash happened on Alabama Hwy 41 three miles north of Brewton.
Although the investigation into the crash continues, Alabama State Troopers say speed was a factor in the crash.
Alexis Pugh was a kindergarten student at Brewton Elementary.
None of the victims were wearing seat belts.
