GRAND BAY, Ala. (WALA) - A Mobile man is accused of trying to kill his ex-girlfriend.
Sonya Waldrop said Chad Molumphy, 37, burst into her Grand Bay home Friday and attacked her.
"He pulled a pocket knife out and just started swinging," Waldrop said.
She was alone in her camper, which sits on her aunt's property. She said Molumphy stabbed and struck her repeatedly.
Investigators said he then threw her cell phone so she couldn't call for help.
"I couldn't call anybody. He left me there to die. I was bleeding so much. The stench of blood in the house was horrible," Waldrop said.
She said she only dated Molumphy for about eight months before she broke up with him.
Authorities said he had been harassing Waldrop for weeks and showing up at her place of work.
Waldrop said she never thought things would go this far. She said she believes it was because she fought back that she survived and ran him off.
"I have 40 stitches in my neck, in my face, and in my hand where I fought him; tried to grab the knife away from him," she said.
Authorities said Molumphy is charged with attempted murder and burglary.
Waldrop's family hopes he will stay behind bars while she deals with the trauma.
"I do not, will not, stay by myself again. I have trouble sleeping. I don't want to be left alone," she said.
The Mobile County Sheriff's Office said Molumphy turned himself in after investigators started looking for him.
Monday morning, a judge ordered that he be held without bond.
