MOIBLE, Ala. (WALA) - Officials said the three people were injured when a fuel barge exploded on Mobile River Wednesday, April 24, are currently listed in critical condition at USA Medical Center.
Clayton Kelley said he's a close friend with Casey Tyson, one of the burn victims. Kelley said Tyson works with D&G Communications out of Texas City, Texas.
D&G Communications said it had "no comment" at this time.
Kelley flew from Texas to visit Tyson at USA Medical Center Thursday, April 25 and will soon be joined by Tyson's mother and father.
Tyson's nephew, Aaron Jones, said Kelley told him about the explosions Wednesday.
"I was feeling like nothing like that could really happen. When he told me, I didn't believe it," Jones said.
He passed the information along to his sister and mother who had a hard time take the news, Jones said.
"I called her and told her and she started freaking out and she started crying. It was shocking."
Jones said he called his pastor who prayed with him over the phone.
Hospital staff said Tyson is currently in the burn ICU as of Thursday, April 25. They also said another burn victim, George Erickson, is in ICU.
