MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) - Mobile Police are investigating on Tuesday, April 2, after a man's body was found in a ditch near Cody and Old Shell Roads in Mobile.
Willie Williams said he found the body and called the police.
"I would want somebody to do my family like that. If I had somebody that was laying in the ditch, call and say, ‘Hey, somebody dead,' instead of just looking over it," said Williams.
People looked on with questions as to what caused the man's death. Mobile police are not ruling out anything at this point.
"Right now, it's just an investigation with a dead body. No criminal activity has been discovered to this point. However, we are going to continue our investigation," said Mobile Police Department Cpl. Chris Levy.
A family member said the man spent a lot of time working the fruit stand on the corner of Old Shell and Cody Road.
The body will be taken to the Alabama Department of Forensics Sciences to try to determine a cause of death.
Police said the man was last seen walking in the area around 6:30 p.m. If you have any information on what could have happened, call Mobile Police.
We will continue to follow this case and let you know what happened.
