MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) - The new park in Mobile Terrace will officially be renamed to honor two civic leaders from the historic neighborhood in west Mobile.
The signage for McCants/Chavers Park will be unveiled at a ceremony on Saturday, July 13, 2013 at 1:30 p.m. The park is located at the corner of 13th Street and Lincoln Blvd in Mobile Terrace.
Joyce Chavers and Hattie McCants have been instrumental in creating a better way of life for their neighbors in Mobile Terrace. They were instrumental in pushing for annexation into the City of Mobile.
That feat was accomplished when voters approved the annexation in 2007.
