MOBILE, Ala. - Closing arguments will begin Thursday in the capital murder case of Lam Luong. He's the Irvington man accused of throwing his four young children off the Dauphin Island bridge.
Three days is all the state needed to present its case against Lam Luong. Luong is the 38-year-old man facing five counts of capital murder for allegedly throwing his four children off the Dauphin Island Bridge.
On Wednesday, Prosecutors showed the jury graphic images of the four small bodies, then rested its case.
"That of course put the focus on the defendant and what they were going to do and as you heard in open court they sat up and sat down," said Mobile County District Attorney, John Tyson Jr.
Lam Luong did not testify. He also looked away when the decomposed bodies of his children were shown. Closing arguments are set for Thursday morning.
Like the trial, Tyson said the deliberation should be quick. "I expect that sometime tomorrow morning the jury will get the case and actually decide if Mr. Luong is guilty," he said.
If convicted, jurors will recommend a death sentence or life in prison without parole, but the judge has final say. "First thing's first," said Tyson. "We have to go through the guilt phase and see what to do after that."
If Lam Luong is found guilty Thursday, we should find out Friday what his punishment will be.
