PENSACOLA, Fla. (WALA) - Authorities in Northwest Florida are investigating after two bodies were found in Pensacola Bay. The discovery was made Wednesday afternoon near Sherman Cove off of Radford Boulevard in Pensacola.
Escambia County Sheriff's Office Spokesperson Sena Maddison said the bodies of a woman and a child were found within hours of each other. We're told the bodies were located in the same vicinity.
Officials say the victims have been identified and while there are no early indications of foul play, the investigation continues in conjunction with NCIS and the State Attorney's Office.
Witnesses said the woman and child were wearing bathing suits when they were found.
The sheriff's office says no further information will be released pending notification of next of kin.
The trial for Giuseppe Pino LoPorto continues today in Baldwin County. LoPorto, now 80-years-old, faces several sex abuse charges against a child dating back to the early 90s.
