DESTIN, Fla. (AP) — A 12-year-old Tennessee boy is recovering after surgery to repair damage to his arm from a possible shark bite. Zachary Tyke Standridge was in knee-deep water off Destin on Saturday when he emerged with two large bite marks on his lower arm.
Standridge's mother, Katie Standridge, told The Northwest Florida Daily News (http://bit.ly/15l00ye ) that her son had plastic surgery on his arm and will have to have weeks of therapy to regain full use of his arm.
The family said doctors told them that Zachary's injuries were consistent with shark bites.
Katie Standridge said she is grateful her son will be ok and that his injuries were not more extensive.
