MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) - Gil Collar, a University of South Alabama student, was shot and killed over the weekend by a USA campus police officer.
FOX10 News spoke to someone at the Collar residence who said they want the people of Mobile to know about Collar, and who he was.
Collar's mother, Bonnie Smith Collar, told CNN the university and police broke the news to her about Gil's death but could not fully explain the events surrounding the shooting.

Collar was a freshman at the University of South Alabama from Wetumpka.
