PENSACOLA, Fla. (WALA) - Less than 24 hours after FOX10 News interviewed the leader of a controversial ministry about its comments in a Christmas parade, the leader is nowhere to be found.
We first introduced you to Brian Gaines after his group "Save Me from the Fire" ministry took some heat after preaching in a Crestview Christmas Parade. FOX10 has video of the group shouting things about sin, hell and "Santa is not real."
On Dec. 5, Gaines responded to the negative reaction in a letter. He spoke to FOX10 News and didn't apologize for the controversial comments.
"I told them that your controversy is with the Lord God not with us. We faithfully spoke the truth according to His word in the fair town of Crestview knowing that it pleased him," said Gaines.
"Save Me From The Fire's" website went from being active on Wednesday, to undergoing maintenance on Dec. 6.
Search the group on Facebook and nothing comes up. E-mails sent to Gaines bounce back.
We reached out to Pensacola Bible Institute, the school in which Gaines attends. They called back only to say he was gone, and "He knew better than that."
In our interview, Gaines said he expected backlash.
"Jesus said, ‘Remember, the world will hate you; but remember, it hated me first," said Gaines.
We also left several voicemails for Gaines, none of which were returned.
