BALDWIN COUNTY - Authorities said Sammy Williams, 28, is currently charged with numerous crimes including the rape of a 12-year-old girl but they said he’s back on the street after bonding out twice over the weekend of September 28.
Bay Minette police said Williams was staying with a friend and her daughter at a home on Hoyle Avenue when the assault took place Friday evening.
Sergeant Ray Dixon said Williams had forced himself onto the homeowner's daughter. The homeowner then called 911.
Dixon said Williams was arrested and put in jail under a $25,000 bond.
Two days later authorities said Williams bonded out and was arrested again after he returned to the victim’s home drunk.
Dixon said based on his actions Williams should have been denied bond.
“It should have been my responsibility to give him no bond and I didn’t do so. The fact that he stayed with another family, I felt a $25,000 bond was adequate but it wasn’t," Williams said. "The fact that he returned to the residence shows he would not adhere to any bond requirements you give him."
Authorities said Williams is now on a $300 bond for public intoxication and trespassing charges.
Dixon said they are currently working with the district attorney to arrest Williams for breaking the conditions of his original bond.
Williams is being charged with first-degree rape, trespassing and public intoxication.
