DAPHNE, Ala. (WALA) - Daphne Police have arrested a man who they say violently robbed and kidnapped his ex-girlfriend.
She was abducted Saturday night when she arrived at her place of employment.
Twenty five year old Marvin Dwight King of Daphne is in the Baldwin County Jail after police say he abducted his ex-girlfriend over the weekend.
Daphne Police said the victim had just arrived to work at Eastern Shore Rehabilitation Center when King confronted her.
"He reaches in, unlocks the car, opens the door, grabs her by the hair and yanks her out of her car," said Lt. Jud Beedy with Daphne Police. "He hits her over the head with something and drags her to his vehicle and locks her in his car."
Police say King took the victim's purse and other items out of her car before driving to his house on Lett Avenue in Daphne.
That's where police say he forced her inside and locked her inside his bedroom.
"The two of them are in his bedroom together and they argue verbally for about an hour, probably with some minor pushing and shoving and hitting going on," Beedy said.
Police said after about an hour of arguing, King's roommate had heard enough and came to the victim's rescue.
"Eventually the roommate of our defendant that we arrested intervenes, busts through the locked door of the bedroom and at that point Mr. King runs off from the residence and the victim gets a chance to call us," explained Beedy.
Warrants were issued on King who ended up turning himself in to Daphne Police on Monday. Police say the victim did not require any medical attention.
King is charged with domestic violence 3 rd, robbery 3 rd and kidnapping 1 st degree.
