MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) - The 16th annual Toys for Tots Drive kicked off Friday, November 1.
The Marine Corps came out to show their support for families that are unable to give their children gifts this holiday season.
Penelope House, St. Mary's Home, Wilmer Hall Children's Home and Mulherin Custodial Home are local organizations that will be receiving gifts this year.
"It's important because the image that we have people think of the Marine Corps as always fighters overseas. And what we do throughout the community during Christmas time, we like to give back for all of the support that the community gives us. We try to give back to the community even when were not overseas. We want to help," said SSgt Chris Aragon.
The Toys for Tots motorcycle ride will be held Saturday, December 7. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. at Battleship Park on the Causeway. The ride begins at 10 a.m. at Battleship park and ends at Hooter's at Tillman's Corner.
Tickets are $20 per bike and $10 per passenger. The ticket includes one Toys for Tots t-shirt, a chance to win door prizes and a chance to win a $200 cash drawing.
If you would like to donate a toy, you can do so at the Toys"R"Us on Bel Air Boulevard. All toys should be new, unwrapped and unopened.
