MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) - Officials with the Bishop State Community College held an open house at the Clinton Johnson center Monday, September 23 to stress the importance of getting your GED.
Vendors and officials with Bishop State turned out to speak to those that came in for information.
Come January 2014, officials said the test will be computerized. It will also be more difficult - akin to the ACT.
Officials said there are numerous places around the area to take the GED at Bishop State.
“The community isn’t always aware. We have about 22 different classes through the community. Bishop State has sites in Prichard, Saraland, Chickasaw, Semmes, throughout the community,” Akareem Spears, Bishop State GED coordinator, said.
Bishop State services are free but the test is $50. However, the test will also become more expensive. It will cost around $120.
Officials said if you pass the GED, you can get one free class at any two-year institution in the state.
