CITRONELLE, Ala. (WALA) - Citronelle Police Chief Shane Stringer says a student was assaulted by one or two adults following a late afternoon football practice at the Citronelle High School, Monday, October 28, 2013.
Chief Stringer says the two suspects were with a group of adults and one person in that crowd flashed a handgun while on the campus.
Stringer says a 17-year-old student sustained injuries to his mouth and likely needed stitches.
Stringer says the group of about seven adults appeared to be waiting for this student to finish his football practice; the assault took place soon afterward.
Police had issued a BOLO for a green SUV believed to be involved in the incident, that vehicle was later spotted by Saraland Police officers who performed a traffic stop on the vehicle and its driver.
Police transported that person back to Citronelle Police headquarters for questioning.
Citronelle Police are not releasing the name of the victim or suspects at this time.
